2012 Dodge Ram 1500
Published October 11, 2012
Basically this truck needs no introduction as it almost speaks for itself. By far my ultimate favorite, the 2012 Dodge Ram 1500 reigns supreme in my humble opinion. The stateliness it exudes instantly garners respect from others who just happen to be mere spectators. Admiring it from afar is not enough- at least not for me. Driving a truck this size and with such a potent engine might make some fearful, but you could not be more mistaken. The truck is not hard to drive and maneuver at all, offering one of the smoothest drives I have experienced. In no moment does it ever feel too heavy, and while you can’t expect it to be as nimble as a sports car this truck feels lighter than it should.
Never has a truck held its appeal over time as this one has, starting with the third generation Rams, when they first introduced the V8 Hemi engine and crew cab models. Now on its fourth run under Chrysler’s Ram Trucks, the 2012 Dodge Ram 1500 makes for one hell of a pick-up truck. With an unmatched solid and sturdy build, the Ram flexes some serious muscle with its much talked about Hemi V8 engine with up to 390 horsepower at your disposition. The distinctive cross-hair grille unique to Dodge vehicles is still present and lends plenty of character to this amazing pick-up truck. For your convenience it comes equipped with step bars, which you will want to make use of, especially when exiting the truck. Try to forego this little feature and you can easily feel like an idiot when you lose your step and realize that the sidebars are not mere decorative items.
With 16 mpg in either city/highway at the most, the 2012 Dodge Ram 1500 is not for those wanting to save money at the fuel pump. While the Hemi models are outfitted with fuel saving features it is not likely to translate into huge savings in the gas department.
Spacious Interiors and Technology Add To the Comfort
The 2012 Dodge Ram 1500 fares well on the inside, too. With seating capacity of up to 6 on some crew cab models the ride never feels cramped for passengers on the front or rear side. The console is stripped of any unnecessary buttons, but offers ample entertainment and useful technology options such as Uconnect Media Centers and Uconnect WiFi which enables a secure connection using the most widely used operating systems, including MAC and Windows for those of you that like to work on the go. For those of you that value play over work, you can have a back seat DVD system for an additional $1,700.
So Many Choices, Which One to Choose
If you are going to buy a truck I don’t see any reason to skimp. You might as well go with a crew cab model with four fully functional doors. You could go for the quad cab but you will be sacrificing a bit of leg room for back seat passengers. Luckily, the 2012 Dodge Ram 1500 has numerous models to choose from at different price levels and ultimately one that can be tailored to your needs and wants.
