2013 ACURA ILX
Published September 16, 2012
The 2013 Acura ILX has been built on an entire platform similar to that of a Honda civic, though similar the Acura is wider by two inches and the rooftop is lower by two inches giving it lower interior headroom than the Honda civic. The 2013 Acura ILX is more unique than the civic with its stylish appearance; the headlights are perfectly highlighted and have a curvaceous body shape that dictates some maturity in it. In short it is a small luxury car in its own class with its bold and muscular design.
The interior is quite refined with good craftsmanship. The dashboard is well carved out and all gadgets can be accessed with ease. The main features are a keyless access with the red button located just below the steering wheel. Dual zone climatic controls maintain stable temperature in hot and cold weather, a touch screen five inch display panel, illuminated controls and a Bluetooth. Traction control keeps the car on its fours as you perform maneuvers and it’s also complemented by a telescopic steering wheel hence driving the car with minimal ease. The radio controls are also located on the steering wheel for easy accessibility. One can opt for black leather seats on the 2.4 liter model or tan leather on the 2.0 model. This package is retained in all models.
2013 Acura ILX has three engine options, 2.4liter, 2.0liter and the 1.8 liter. Underneath the hood is a 4 cylinder engine that delivers enough horse power and torque though it can’t match that of a high performance car. Fully loaded with power; it has a 150hp engine that delivers a 148 lb per ft of toque which is higher than that of Honda civic. Acura comes with a standard five speed manual gearbox and a five-speed automatic gearbox as optional. Despite the car not having a six speed, it is compensated by throttle sensitive transmission hence achieving a good fuel economy.
Performance can be best achieved by the 2.4 liter engine which has modified technology from the Honda civic Si.This one can easily achieve a 200 hp and deliver 170lb-ft of torque under the hood. Performance is also enhanced by traction control that keeps you on the track as you navigated around town or as you cruise down the highways. The 2.0 liter also has paddle shifters located behind the steering for easier gear shifting. The performance can be said to be more superior to that of the civic.
Last but not the list there is 2013 Acura ILX Hybrid model. This model has a better fuel economy but delivers least amount of torque and horse power amongst all the other engines. It has a 1.5 liter engine and CVT (continuous variable transmission) the car is powered by a 15-hp electric motor. It has a lighter structure hence offers a smooth ride and can be fun to cruise around with.
2013 Acura ILX can comfortably carry five mature adults but the major hindrance will be the low rooftop that will get the passengers bumping their heads if they happen to be very tall. All in all it’s a perfect car matching the standards of Honda civic in safety and performance.
