BMW has been working out. Pumping a whole lot of iron. It’s showing in the form of the 6 Gran Coupe model. This is a very muscular and athletic looking sedan that is somehow taken the classic BMW lines and road stance and made it all that much more sexier and appealing. Its longer by just enough to make it seem that much more elegant than ever before.
The quality of the interior design and features gives the 7 series a run for its money. A heads up display controls all elements of the car and is extremely easy to use. The interior is every bit as luxurious and comfortable as we have grown accustomed to expect from BMW.
The 2013 BMW 6 Gran Coupe is powered with the new TwinPower Turbo eight-cylinder engine, equipped with two turbochargers, Valvetronic, double-Vanos and High Precision Injection. This bad boy is capable of reaching 60mph in just over 4 seconds. I don’t know about you but that sounds like a lot of fun. The exhaust turbochargers are centrally positioned in the belly of the V of the cylinder banks create an extremely compact engine design. And despite producing 445hp output and a maximum torque of 480 lb-ft, the powerful eight-cylinder engine also manages to achieve new standards in fuel consumption. Depending on road conditions or mood there are available on the fly modes. Such as Sport Mode when the driver wishes to truly experience the 6 Gran Coupe’s dynamics. The engine responds more aggressively to the accelerator and BMW’s eight-speed sports automatic transmission Steptronic allows for higher revolutions before switching gears. Also in Sport mode the steering becomes and tighter and more responsive. In the SPORT+ Mode enables the driver full control over the performance limits of the car. Utilizing Dynamic Damper Control in COMFORT+ Mode the 6 Gran Coupe provides and extremely smooth and graceful ride despite uneven or rough road surfaces. If fuel reservation or earth conscious concerns arise the ECO PRO Mode enables even greater fuel efficiency. All aspects of the car such as the transmission, heating and cooling systems are tuned to maximum efficiency and recommendations are made to the driver as to best indicate how fuel efficiency can be further increased. The ECO PRO Mode blends a relaxed elegant drive with optimized fuel consumption at low speeds. BMW boasts that, provided it’s driven with reserve, fuel consumption can be reduced by up to 20%.
Buying a BMW 6 Gran Coupe can be a slippery slope considering there are a possible $20,000 in add on options available. Which seems outrageous for most of us. But for those with a big fat enough bank account the sky is the limit with this car.
All those impressive features and numbers aside the 2013 BMW 6 Gran Coupe is also loads of fun to drive. It is every bit as muscular in its performance as its exterior design suggests. With a little extra room in the rear for so two more can join in on the fun.
