The culmination of the 45 year long relationship between Mercedes and AMG came with the first Mercedes SLS AMG in 2009. The way in which this brand has shaped up since is golden history. Moving over to 2013, this brand is all set to witness more raw power getting added to the already best-of-the-lot range of Super Luxury Sports Cars from the multination division of the German manufacturer Daimler AG.
The 2013 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT is looking all set for a November 2012 launch to replace the raunchy SLS AMG with a hardcore power filled jaw-dropping beast.
Announced to be available both as a Coupe and a Roadster, the SLS AMG GT features the same 6.2 litre hear-throbbing V8 as the current SLS, but an added 20 hp more (making it 583 hp now) means you would be flying over from 0 to 60 mph in a matter of an eye blinking 3.7 seconds. What’s more is a even more responsive throttle, coupled with an AMG speedshift 7-speed dual clutch transmission with reduced upshift and downshift times in the “M” or the manual mode.
Top speed is electronically limited to 197 mph with a fuel economy of 14 mpg on the city drive and 20 mpg on the highway. What this means is that the 2013 SLS AMG GT will still be able to deliver 15 mpg combined while cruising around effortlessly on the roads, all thanks to a highly improved electronically adjustable dampers. Compared to its predecessor, the new performance suspension system promises to be much stiffer and more aggressive overall.
As is expected from a vehicle of its class, a great amount of attention has been laid out to the interiors of the 2013 Mercedes SLS AMG GT. With the introduction of a new “Designo” style package, owners can now take advantage of three different color combos in both one and two-tone finishes. Exquisitely designed are the diamond pattern on the seats and doors drawn with the top-grade leather surfaces. Also on offer is a wide array of optional add-ons such as carbon fibre parts and ceramic breaks to add to the already glossy black finish and darkened lights with the special “GT” badge provided on the rear.
A power packed beast, the 2013 Mercedes SLS AMG GT is definitely not the “family car”. However it is a piece of automobile wonder beautiful enough to entice every car lover out of their seats. In what is an otherwise overly competitive market, Mercedes is putting a real strong contender to the table with its improved SLS AMG line
