2014 Cadillac CTS Diesel

A Closer Look At The Cadillac CTS Diesel

Updated September 3, 2018

It’s so cold in the D, bring us some warm diesels to brighten our day

Not The Cadillac CTS Diesel

No, not the CTS but damn I wish it was.

With the introduction of the Cadillac ATS we are seeing the once ATS sized CTS get even bigger. The current CTS fits quite nicely between a 3-series and 5-series BMW which seemed like a good spot to be in but Cadillac wants to take on BMW and in order to do so they need some help. More new car buyers are looking for fuel economy and with that seems as though diesel is the answer for larger vehicles such as the upcoming CTS as we will see a 2014 CTS Diesel. The European market loves their diesels and rightfully so as they make sense especially when you’re paying for Brent Crude prices plus wacky European gas and car taxes. So hopefully Cadillac has realized that a CTS diesel would be the way to go.

2014 Cadillac CTS Diesel Specs

What is not known is what engine they would place in the 2013 CTS Diesel as speculators believe the 4.5 L Duramax Turbo-D is the choice. This V8 would deliver 315 hp and 520 lb-ft of torque making for a car that would never stop pulling. This would certainly show those Germans how we still know our diesels but more than likely we will see a 6-cylinder option mated to a 6-speed automatic making for more like 250 hp and 370 lb-ft of torque. As far as MPG’s go we would likely see around high twenties in the city and around 40 mpg’s on the highway.

2014 Cadillac CTS Diesel Price

The price of the Cadillac CTS Diesel 2014 model will likely start at just under $40,000 for the RWD version and hopefully will also be available in an AWD and Wagon version. This would certainly help out sales in the European market and also in America where buyers are coming around to the fact that Diesel makes sense. Note to Cadillac, the BMW 5-series is pretty damn good and they know how to build quality in the interior. So if Cadillac would please fire the Chevy Truck interior designer that was in charge of the cheesy plastic filled cabin then we would likely see many more individuals looking to give Cadillac a try.
