Milan, Italy – The Alfa Romeo Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Harald Wester said the launching of the 2015 Alfa Romeo Giulia is set for June next year.
The Italian car maker has started its product renewal program, indicating the launch of 9 new cars towards the end of the decade. The disclosure about the details was published in the CAR magazine’s January 2015 issue. Georg Kacher, the European editor of the said magazine was able to interview the company CEO, who claimed his vision of the rejuvenated company through the launch of 9 new Alfas.
The launch of the 9 new cars ends the agonizing, long wait for new models since most of them have faded. Today, only two core models are on sale in the United Kingdom, while 3, including the 4C sports car.
The first new car to kick start Alfa’s product rejuvenation is the 2015 Giulia. The launch schedule, which is set on June 24 next year, also marks the company’s 105th anniversary. Despite the company’s absence of several years, the new car model is believed to drive the company back towards Europe’s premium heartland.
The all-new Giulia is included in Alfa’s rear-wheel drive generation, the Alfisti. Its platform is based on Ghibli’s RWD matrix, however, reproduced with smaller-capacity engines. Its 4-cylinder motors are assumed to be 110 or 180 horsepower (1.4 turbo), and a 1.8 turbo will be available with 330 horsepower.
In order for the car to compete, it has a Maser-twinned petrol V6 engine, which will be available in either 2.5 or 3.0 capacities that will develop up to 510 horsepower. A set of diesel engines will be available as well, including a 1.6 4-cylinder up to a 3.0 V6 common-rail TD.
After the launch of the Alfa Romeo Giulia follows the Giulietta in 2016, which also has the rear-wheel drive platform, and will become as one of the hatchback rivals. The optional 4-wheel drive will offered on more powerful models.
