2017 GT350 Gets New Colors and Packages
Updated April 6, 2016
To quote Ford, the GT350 is “the most track-capable, race-ready Mustang ever built.” With that being said there were a few feature combinations customers wanted to see that weren’t available for the 2015 and 2016 model years. Ford being open to customer suggestions, they remedied one concern last year by offering a back seat to the buyers of the GT350R. With the 2017 model year on the horizon, Ford is finally rearranging package content and colors to better suit the needs of their customers.
First off, the track package is now standard on the GT350. While this will likely increase the base price of the car, it means everyone who buys one will get the Magneride damping system, aluminum tower brace, raised decklid spoiler, and oil, trans, and differential coolers.
Next are the two new packages that are available; electronics and convenience. The electronics package is for those who want premium sound and nav but don’t want to lose the Recaros. The convenience package is the same but includes leather-trimmed power seats in lieu of the Recaros. This is great news for the consumer as many people had a difficult time deciding between electronics and recaros with last year’s GT350.
Finally, as with the limited Boss in 2012 and 2013, there will be some minor color changes for the 2017 model year. Ford is tossing the Competition Orange and Deep Impact Blue in return for Ruby Red Metallic, Lightning Blue, and Grabber Blue. Personally, I am sad to see the orange go as it would have been my choice had I been able to get my hands on one.
Overall this is a great move by Ford. Proving they listen to the customers and improve year to year. I’m not sure the early adopters of the 2016 will agree with me on that statement, but it’s the only way manufacturers can assure demand stays up year after year. Until we see them out on the street, enjoy the gallery of new colors!
