The 2018 Ducati XDiavel S: Now In White!
The 2018 Ducati XDiavel S will be available in a rather stunning Iceberg White paint scheme.
Updated August 23, 2018
Thanks to some great pictures from Italy, we can see that the 2018 Ducati XDiavel S will come with a rather exciting Iceberg White paint scheme to help set it apart from the crowd. Even though the XDiavel S hardly needs anything fancy to help it look even better, adding a nice and minimalist white to the roster is a welcome move. The new paint scheme is expected to be formally unveiled at Austria’s Faaker See Rally later on this week…until then, you can enjoy these tasty teaser pictures from Ducati.
Fortunately, there’s more to the 2018 Ducati XDiavel S than a new color option. While the details are still a little thin, we do know that the new XDiavel will boast upgraded suspension for the new year, with Ducati hoping that the suspension revision will provide added comfort for both rider and pillion, and improve road feel.
2018 Ducati XDiavel S: Hopefully, More Than Just A New Color Option
As for the engine, we’re expecting it to be more or less the same iconic 1,262cc two-cylinder Testastretta engine that packs a beastly 156 hp at 9,500 rpm and 96 lb-ft of torque peaking at 5000 rpm, perhaps with a few refinements to bring it into the new year. In fact, we’re expecting something in the engine department to get an upgrade or two, because we’re guessing that this engine will be the same one that Ducati employ on their all new Multistrada – so something extra wouldn’t be a miss. Even if we’re 100% wrong, there’s nothing to cry about. The belt driven XDiavel is already such a pleasure to ride – no doubt thanks to its Desmodromic Variable Valve Timing which gives the rider silky smooth acceleration and un-labored power delivery.
If you’ve never ridden the XDiavel, you’ll be awestruck when you do. And if you’re already a fan of the model, you can bet that you’ll be just as impressed with the 2018 Ducati XDiavel as you were with its predecessors. Being and unusual sports/cruiser hybrid, the XDiavel perfectly marries together the rider comfort and practicality of a cruiser with the handling and performance of a modern sportsbike with ease. It’s no wonder that the XDiavel has won not one but two design awards since if first rolled onto the scene in 2016.
Talking of one of those awards, Ducati’s Style Centre manager, Andrea Ferraresi talked about the Ducati XDiavel and its design language: “Long, low-slung, muscular, with contemporary lines and sophisticated componentry. Above all sexy. On one hand the motorcycle’s design was inspired by the cruiser world, on the other hand Ducati DNA. It drives the cruiser concept headlong into a modern context: a real “Technocruiser” with futuristic styling and state-of-the-art technology. Extreme in its proportions, the XDiavel was deliberately designed “element by element”. If you observe each one individually, it is as if the frame, the fuel tank, the headlamp, the tailpiece and the silencer live a life of their own, yet at the same time they go to make up a perfectly balanced, harmonious whole.”
At the moment, we have no word on the price or availability for the 2018 Ducati XDiavel S, but we’re expecting the details to come through in the near future.
