Suzuki Show Off The 2018 GSX-R600, GSX-R750, And Hayabusa

The 2018 Suzuki Sportsbike Line Up Has Arrived

Suzuki Motor America have sent out the first images of the 2018 Suzuki GSX-R600, 2018 GSX-R750 and the 2018 Suzuki Hayabusa…but there’s no sign of the turbocharged Hayabusa yet. You might be wondering why the 2018 GSX-R600 and GSX-R750 look very similar to the 2017 models, and you might be wondering where the hell the highly anticipated turbocharged Hayabusa has gotten to – but Suzuki have some very good answers to these questions.

First up, let’s deal with the 2018 Suzuki GSX-R600. It might not look too different to the previous model, and that’s because it isn’t. In fact it’s just the same model as before with some new graphics to keep the 2018 version vaguely interesting to new buyers. And it’s the same story with the 2018 Suzuki GSX-R750 too: same old bike, new graphics. What about that turbocharged Hayabusa that we’ve been banging on about then, because the 2018 Suzuki Hayabusa here ain’t that special.

The 2018 Suzuki Range Is Here – But 2019 Is What We’re Really Waiting For

Well, Suzuki are keeping their powder dry, as it were. Earlier on this year, we’d heard that Suzuki had some incredibly bold new plans to breathe fresh life into their GSX-R600 and GSX-R750 models. We also heard some solid talk about the turbo Busa too. We also heard that all three of the models, or rather the real updated models, would be chalked up as 2019 models that we could expect to be formally launched sometime around mid-2018. It’s confusing, but it seems like Suzuki doesn’t want their new innovations to be swallowed up with the rest of the big announcements from Italy’s EICMA. Instead, Suzuki have decided to launch their new models as 2019 models…or 2018-point-five if you prefer.

Don’t be disappointed though, because while their formal release might be at least six months away, we’re expecting to see the all-new Suzuki line up unveiled at the EICMA show in the next week. And there will be a brand spanking new Suzuki GSX-R600, GSX-R750 and turbocharged Hayabusa. Well, there had better be, at least. Suzuki need to do something to make the rest of their sports range as up to date as their flagship GSX-R1000 and GSX-R1000R models.

Hopefully with a new GSX-R600 on the way, some much needed fire will be injected into the 600 supersport class…but with Honda out of the running, it might take more than a new Suzuki to keep the 600 dream alive.

About Joe Appleton

I’ve done a bit of work here and there in the industry – I’ve even ridden a few bikes for actual money but what it comes down to is this: I ride bikes, build bikes and occasionally crash ‘em too. I like what I like but that certainly doesn’t make my opinion any more valid than yours…
