Buell Motorcycles Is Back In Business In 2021

After Being Mothballed For 12-Years Buell Returns, But Without Harley-Davidson or Erik Buell’s Involvement

2021 Buell Motorcycles Super Touring

Buell Motorcycles is back! The current lineup of motorcycles is being hand-built in Grand Rapids, Michigan, with lots more coming soon. Yep, more motorcycle production in America, exciting times.

“Buell is back! We are excited to bring Buell back with this awesome assortment of superbikes and performance motorcycles. We start with the fastest American production motorcycles, hand built in the USA, so that’s a nice start! We’re building out those platforms for more touring & adventure models, then we’re expanding our displacements to be competitive with other global brands. The passionate Buell Nation can grow and thrive again.” -said Bill Melvin, Buell Motorcycles CEO.

Buell History

In early 2020 EBR (Eric Buell Racing) acquired the Buell brand back from Harley-Davidson, who hasn’t used it since 2009. EBR is also no longer associated with Erik Buell, who started the company in 2010 after leaving HD. In the end, the man who sold off the original assets of Buell when HD let it go and then again in 2015 when EBR was forced to liquidate its assets, now runs EBR and the Buell Motorcycles name. That man is Bill Melvin.

Erik Buell has nothing to do with EBR or Buell Motorcycles anymore, but is currently working with electric motorcycle and bicycle company Fuell.

Future Buell Motorcycles

Buell Motorcycles plans to bring 10 motorcycle models to market by the 2024 model year, which is a tall order! It plans to bring dirt, dual-sport, touring, and cruiser models to market soon, with medium and small displacement motors and even an electric model in the works.

Current Buell Motorcycles

Currently, Buell makes high-performance 1190 platform bikes. They of course have the signature Buell features of fuel in frame, perimeter brake rotors, exceptional handling, and high horsepower. Current models include the 1190RX, 1190SX, and 1190HCR, so track, street, and hill climb specialty bikes.

Throw A Leg Over A New Buell

The first big showing of the reincarnation of Buell Motorcycles will be at Daytona Bike Week 2021, March 4-15th, at J&P Cycles Destination Daytona Mega Store.

Until then, you can check out what Buell has in store at BuellMotorcycle.com.

(If you’re a Buell fan you’ll also appreciate this awesome custom.)
