5 Compact Cars for 2011

2011 offers a variety of new choices when it comes to automobiles. Many companies boast of new changes that are beneficial to buyers. Things like gas mileage, extra airbags for safety, and different colors. With all of these choices how is a person to choose a car that is right for them. Here are five choices for your review.

The 2011 Ford Fiesta is ranked number one by the US News and Weekly Report. Under the hood the Fiesta comes with a 1.6 liter 4 cylinder engine that puts out 120 horsepower. It boasts of decent gas mileage of 28 City / 37 Hwy. The Fiesta comes with a standard 5 speed manual transmission, but is available with a 6 speed automatic transmission. The Ford Fiesta is available in many colors to accommodate every buyer. If you need a four door or a four door with hatchback both are available. For safety the automobile has 7 standard airbags. The Fiesta has a price range of $13,787 to $17,544 based on what options you choose.

The Honda Civic is highly ranked. The Civic has a 1.8-liter four-cylinder that puts out 140 horsepower. If 140 horses are not enough then opt for the Si Civic which has a 2.0-liter engine that puts out197 horses. The transmission comes with a 5 speed manual with a mpg of 25/34, or a 5 speed automatic transmission with a mpg of 26/36. For safety the Civic has six airbags, anti-lock brakes and has electronic brake distribution for extra safety. The Civic has a price range of $15,743 to $24,881 depending on what options you choose.

Next for review is the 2011 Nissan Versa. The engine is a 1.6 liter 4 cylinder engine with 107 horsepower; need more power opt for the 1.8 liter 4 cylinder that puts out 122 horses. Either way the mpg is similar to that of the 2010 models with 26 in the city and 34 on the highway. The car has 6 airbags and on upgraded vehicles the car has traction control for added traction control. Unfortunately, safety features vary by option. If you are looking for a high performance car the Versa is not considered to be a good choice. Nissan offers a 3 year 36,000 mile warranty and a powertrain 5 year 60,000 mile warranty for buyers.

The 2011 Volkswagen Golf offers a 2.0 liter 4 cylinder turbo diesel that puts out 140 horses. It also has a 2.5 liter gas engine option with a mpg of 22-23/30. On the inside there is a touch screen option with Bluetooth connectivity. Based on what options are chosen the price ranges from $18,119 to $24,948. For safety the Insurance Institute gives the Golf good ratings is most categories, making it a good choice for safety.

The Chevrolet Cruze is the final review. Chevrolet offers a 1.4 turbocharged 4 cylinder that puts out 138 horses and a 1.8 liter 4 cylinder engine that puts out 136 horses. MPG boasts of a 34 in town and 40 on the highway. The Chevrolet Cruze is the only compact that offers 10 airbags for safety. The car also has electronic stability control and anti-lock brakes. It also has disc brakes for the front and drum brakes for the rear brakes. All of these safety features are standard for each car. The reasonable price range for the Cruze is $16,826 to $22,470.
