As the CTS-V is now available only with an automatic transmission, the ATS and the ATS-V are the only vehicles in Cadillac’s fleet that offer a manual. Unfortunately, you have to make a few compromises to order one that way: it’s only available with the 2.0-liter turbocharged model, and you also have to forgo AWD as the manual is only available with rear-wheel drive.
When you think of the Chevrolet SS, if you ever do (most people don’t) you’d imagine that it would come only with an automatic transmission. Wrong! In fact, if you order the stick, that when you do, the 3.27 rear axle ratio is deleted, and the price is reduced by $1,300, a rarity among manual transmission cars.
The Honda Accord is one of a few cars that offers a stick in both a four-cylinder entry-level trim, as well as the premium EX-L V-6. Drop a manual into the EX-L V-6 Coupe and you’ve got a car that won’t embrass itself agsinst some German competition. The best part is that there’s no extra cost for going stick..
If you’ve not heard of the Infiniti Q60, don’t feel like you’re alone. It’s really just a G37 Coupe that’s been updated. Apparently Infiniti forgot to tell anyone. Both the Coupe and Convertible versions are available with a six-speed manual.
The Volkswagen CC is another mystery car Like the Q60 its a handsome car with much to offer. Sales are in the Chevy SS range, so when you spot one its a rare day. At ten grand over a comparable Passat, if must just send customers to the Audi dealer. Anyway, the CC is available with a 200 hp turbo four and a six speed manual for $32,995.
Volkswagen Jetta Sportwagen
It’s like the spirits of old Volvo wagons have returned. Station wagons are getting harder and harder to find and one that’s available with a five-speed transmission is a real find. Even the base Jetta Sportswagon model wagon at $21,625 comes with the 170 hp 1.8T motor and a five-speed row-it-yourself gearbox.
