Aggressive Wide-bodied Dub Edition 2015 Toyota Yaris Street Machine
Published January 5, 2015
The Yaris is Toyota’s smallest car in its American lineup, but the 2015 Toyota Yaris Dub Edition only proves that it still can get a mid-cycle extensive refresh, added with a complete aggressive new look plus a major redesign in the interior. It’s much awaited arrival earned a lot of car press positive reactions. This includes DUB Magazine, a leading aftermarket publication, who had chosen the Toyota Yaris to be one of the magazine’s two showcase models during this year’s SEMA Auto Show.
The Dub edition vehicle did receive aggressive exterior and interior upgrades, but the customized hatchback didn’t get any engine upgrades. It is still powered by a four-cylinder 1.5-liter inline engine that produces 106 horsepower and 103 lbs. / Feet of torque. It is also still fitted with the same 5-speed manual transmission. Though no engine add-ons were made, it does come fitted with a modified drop suspension system and 20-inch gloss-black Dropstars DS643, concave wheels that are wrapped in Invo Nitto tires. Its braking system is also upgraded to StopTech rotors that is paired with a big TRD brake kit.
Major Overall Upgrade
The 2015 Dub Edition Toyota Yaris features a very exciting and attractive appearance. It has changed so much compared to the previous version. It is meaner and can keep up with present-day design trends. Similar to past SEMA entries, DUB Magazine immediately jumped at giving the Toyota Yaris a major and dramatic makeover. It is highlighted with a very aggressive profile, a racing feel interior, and of course, a monstrous audio system.
Aggressive Exterior Looks
Looking at the Toyota Yaris 2015 Dub Edition, and comparing it with past versions, it is bursting with high confidence unlike the subtle and a bit boring previous look. It features a two-tone paint scheme that goes well with SEMA vehicle entries this year. It is painted with a combination of gloss-black at the back and matte-pearl white paint. The aggressive look is completed by fitting a new Custom TS Designs wide-body kit, tinted windows, and also stealthy smoked rear tail lights.
Racing Interior Look
Majority of the Dub Edition Toyota Yaris’ upgrades is massively focused on its interior and putting a lot of focus on its hidden racing pedigree. Added to the vehicle’s potential in becoming a rolling boom box. The interior racing element is obvious with Sparco racing seats paired with a roll bar that is custom painted in pearl-white. To add more aggressiveness in styling, the headliner is ultra-suede and black, plus a number of red accents that led to the Yaris’ incredible overall transformation. From a tiny and cute city car, to a madhouse monster on wheels.
Upon opening the DUB Edition’s trunk, the real magic and monstrous is revealed. A DUB Edition complete audio system is installed. A total of three amplifiers, two massive speakers, two subwoofers, that is enclosed in fiberglass with painted and leather accents. As a control center, an iPad placed in between the speakers and serves as the audio system’s control center where heart throbbing audio madness is unleashed.
Base and Upgrade Costs
The base price of the 2015 Yaris is around $14,845, while the automatic transmission version is around $15,570. The top-of-the-line model, which is the LE trim (five-door) is priced at about $16,880. No exact details on how much upgrade cost for a stock Yaris to become a Dub Edition were released, but it would not be surprising if the overall cost reaches $40,000.
New Breed of Yaris
The Dub Edition 2015 Toyota Yaris is a little guy that could, a unique and successful upgrade to an already successful 2015 model. Purist may have second thoughts on it, but that’s it, even purists can’t stop from being amazed at what Dub Magazine was able to achieve. This upgraded Yaris tapped into new levels of cool and awesomeness that many thought it wasn’t capable of reaching.
