Audi Atom Concept As A Fan Made Window Into The Future
Audi Atom Concept electric or not?

Back in 2003, I saw an Audi Nuvolari Quattro. I simply cannot forget it to this day. It was a concept car which marked a massive design transition for the company. For me, it was the first proper introduction into the world of the modern cars. More or less, it determined all about me to this day. And I do not even like Audi that much. It was probably the first car showing glimpses of the astonishing future the Audi A5 was a crown example of later on. But on the high-end side of the story, the Audi Le Mans Concept of the same year was the one to point us to the R8. Could this Atom Concept give us the same glimpse into the 2020s? Could it be a defining point?
It does look the business, but I am not sure it could actually give us a window into the future. Partly because it does not seem to have proper proportions on some of the pictures, but mostly, because it is just a fan made render by Konstantin Pankratov.
The car does look mean. I grant it. It links fine Audi R8 style features with something we could expect for the next-gen model. Super-slick front lights, massive openings for the intakes and even those side blades unmistakably show what the Atom Concept is all about.
Pankratov went so far that he designed cars in three different finishes. Handsome.
Interestingly enough, the Atom Concept does not exactly seem like an electric car. Regardless of all those blue pieces on it. Unfortunately, Pankratov did not provide us with any details or ideas about the car such as the powertrain, year of introduction or anything of importance. After all, it is fiction.
Shall The Next R8 Get The V6 Twin Turbo and be like this Atom Concept?
All in all, we are still waiting for a non-V10 version of the current Audi R8. Some suggest we could see the car as soon as next year, but no one actually knows for certain what will be placed in the middle at the back. I know it will be a turbocharged unit. Audi board member Ulrich Hackenberg acknowledged that turbo power is coming to the R8: “It is inevitable that we will go to a turbocharged motor for it at some point, it would be in this model cycle, to give us a fuller range.”
