BMW i8 Frozen Editions In Black And In Yellow Gets Cool

BMW i8 Yellow edition will be a head-turner like no other

Updated October 15, 2018

BMW is working on special edition i8s. Again. They are called the Frozen White Editions, with one gracefully finished in Black and other in Yellow. This brings the total number of finish options for the i8 to 12. Not a lot by any stretch of the imagination, but the i8 is a special car in itself. BMW has a special process for painting it. Officially called the i8 Protonic Frozen Black Edition and the i8 Protonic Frozen Yellow, the cars will make a debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March.

Apart from the fantastic looking “cool” colors, BMW reports that these two will have some special touches on the inside as well. The black one will come with a bespoke interior finish, while the Frozen Yellow gets some unique yellow additions.

For additional $6,900, buyers enter the territory of Individual Colors Collection. In fact, they can choose among six additional paint options.

While BMW offers a number of personalization options, when it comes to the propulsion, BMW i8 comes with a hybrid propulsion system based on a 1.5-liter three cylinder. The rig gives out 357hp and 420 lb-ft of torque making the i8 quite a vigorous car. More importantly than that, the i8 can achieve 28 MPGe with an electric-only range of 15 miles.

BMW will announce pricing closer to the release date but expect it to be more expensive than $140,700. That’s the starting point for the i8.

About Safet Satara

I do not have spare time. All there is is car time. 12 years and counting. I am a Central European gearhead, but you are probably thinking - aaa a disposable Borg drone! Well, actually, I like to dress up like James Bond too. The only thing I need to be him is an Aston Martin (and I love DBS more than DB5 because, reasons). That's something I guess.
