BMW Opens Tech Center in Shanghai

BMW established a technology center in Shanghai yesterday, the new center will be responsible for the German manufacturers research and development in the Chinese market and help boost its R&D comittments to the Asia-Pacific region where it hopes to further localize its cars. BMW currently has similar sites in California where research is carried out on multimedia technologies to improve driver experience, whilst another center in Tokyo focuses on hybrid and battery technologies.

The new Shanghai center will focus on developing and following trends in the worlds biggest automotive market and working in cooperation with BMWs HQ and other design centers to further assist in developing cars fit for China.
