BMW Sets Record Sales Pace for First Half of 2013

BMW Group recently announced that the company was on a record setting pace for vehicle sales in the first half of 2013. The company announced that it worldwide sales stood at 954,521 vehicles through the first six months of the year. This was a leap of over six percent over the previous year and BMW set an all time company record in June with sales reaching 184,489 total vehicles. This was a nearly seven percent jump from June of 2012.
BMW announced that it intends to stay aggressive for the remainder of the year and that there is much to be optimistic about. The Gran Tourismo and the Series 4 Coupe are two new arrivals that BMW expects to do well and the all new 5 Series recently launched in June to much fanfare and acclaim. In addition, the latest version of its X5 is poised to hit the dealerships (like bmwoftowson.com in MD) later in the year.
The BMW 3 Series led the way with astonishing sales growth. Sales for all Series 3 vehicles leaped 21.8% with 236,215 individual vehicles sold. BMW remained optimistic with its new launch of the all new Gran Tourismo as it sold close to 1,500 in it debut month of June. The Series 6 had a fantastic first half of 2013 will a sales increase of over 35% followed closely by the Series 5 with 169,593 vehicles sold in the first six months. The company remains highly optimistic for its X3 as demand continued to be solid with sales coming for the first six months at 77,959 sold.
The other BMW automotive groups also did well or held their own throughout the first half of 2103. While MINI sales were just a bit off with 31, 102 sold in June, The overall numbers for the first half of the year remain steady and on par with overall sales for the previous year. In the first half of this year, MINI has sold 148,798 vehicles worldwide. While sales have struggled a bit in Europe, other countries rushed in to pick up the slack. Sales of MINI vehicles were up a stunning 15.1% in Mexico in addition to sales leaps in China of 6.3% and 10.4% in Russia.
Rolls-Royce looks for increased growth for the second half of the year with first half sales coming in at 1,475 vehicles. Rolls-Royce continued to do well in China, the Middle East and in all of South East Asia.
BMW Motorrad exceeded expectations and set and all time sales record for the first half of 2013 with 64,941 vehicles sold which was a nearly ten percent jump over the previous year.
