Bricklin pops Chery’s Cherry

Malcom Bricklin, the entrepreneur who brought the Yugo to America and then much more successfully brought the Subaru to the US, was planning to export Chery automobiles to the USA on the basis of them being top quality at a low price, rather than bargain basement quality at a low price. The exported Cherys were planned to be sold using Bricklins Visionary Vehicles brand. However, it seems that the plan has now been derailed for reasons which are currently unknown, Bricklin was quoted in the Wall Street Journal as saying Cherys newest models, while much improved, still fall short of the quality and safety standards to succeed in the U.S

A bit funny, as just recently Dodge was in talks with Chery to manufacture and build the Dodge Hornet in China, perhaps Bricklin just got the huff and spouted the above.
