Brilliance’ new sedan sighted out again

Published January 4, 2011

In 2018 China Car Times was acquired by Autowise. This article originally appeared on ChinaCarTimes.com.

Brilliance have a great knack for making handsome looking sedans that manage to leap over price boundries, they have high end models in the 120,000rmb segment, and they have low end models in the 50,000rmb segment. The BS6 was the first full size model from Brilliance which seems to have won it many fans in the first round, the BS4 came second which won it an even bigger round of applause from the Chinese auto industry, now it is that BS4 that is about to be changed into the below sedan:

Earlier reports on CCT indicated that it was gunning to be a sports sedan, but it seems that the rear suspension doesnt appear to be an independent system which will the handling. On the upside, the new sedan is looking rather like a miniture BMW 5 series around the front Brilliance of course being a joint venture partner to BMW in China.

Interiors and front ends were never Brilliance strong point in fact to be honest they were terrible at them. The front end of the Brilliance Coupe was the motors only major let down, whilst the interior of the BS4 would make anyone want to string themselves up from a lamp post after sitting behind the wheel for just five minutes. All these issues seem to have been finally righted with this new Brilliance sedan:

Engine power is supposed to be a 1.6L, but this seems to kill what looks like a fantastic car, if Brilliance could slip their 1.8T unit into this compact car they would have a hit on their hands. The car is already being squared up against the Roewe 350 and other Chinese compact sedans.
