According to recent Chinese media reports the new brand from BYD and Mercedes, Denza, will be gaining its own independent production facility in the Pinshan area of Shenzhen over the course of the year with the first production ready model being aired at the Guangzhou Auto Show at the years end.

The new facility will have a maximum capacity of 40,000 vehicles per year in its first stage which is thought to be a modest number until sales of EVs pick up in the Chinese market. Currently Chinese EV sales are relatively weak with just over 12,000 units sold in 2011, BYDs own E6 model accounted for 2000 of those sales.
