Chevrolet Chaparral 2X Vision Gran Turismo is a Monster Race Machine
Updated January 27, 2015
With every new release in the Gran Turismo series, automobile manufacturers are asked to create new vehicles to present not only in the game but also as possible future cars. With it being a game that millions will see car manufacturers take great pride in creating amazing concepts. With the 15th year in business, Gran Turismo has been working extensively to get even better vehicles ready for their upcoming Gran Turismo 7 game. Chevrolet has decided to jump into the mix by creating the ultimate racer in the Chevrolet Chaparral 2X Vision Gran Turismo.
From first glance the exterior of the vehicle gives off a formula one-type feel which is not only given for looks but to give maximum aerodynamics when accelerating to top speeds. Wheels are separated from the body of the vehicle in isolated pods, which is where all the rims, brakes, and bearings would be located. The single driver cockpit looks to be elevated off the ground made up of glass window giving the driver to see at all angles around he/she. Two oval shaped LED headlights sit right in front of the driver is cockpit.
Based on what we see from the exterior one should not expect any sort of lavish interior. In fact, the interior is all about focusing on speed. There is a single premium leather seat for driver comfort, gears, accelerator/breaks, and a wheel. The Chevrolet Chaparral 2X Vision Gran Turismo wants nothing to do with luxury and is all business.
Under the Hood:
Chevrolet is all about power in the Chevrolet Chaparral 2X Vision Gran Turismo. Rather than run on a typical gas engine, Chevrolet envisions the use of a power pack of lithium ion batteries that that are powered by a 670-kilowatt laser. The results of this juiced up machine are a monstrous 900 hp that gives the vehicle a 0 to 60 mph in less than 1.5 seconds! The Top speed of the Chevrolet Chaparral 2X Vision Gran Turismo is 240 mph. It should be understood any sort of public release of this vehicle would have a much toned down engine and performance.
Concluding, from the exterior design, the interior and performance specs we see that Chevrolet has more than taken the challenge to design a speed demon for the next installment of Gran Turismo. The Chevrolet Chaparral 2X Vision Gran Turismo may never hit retail the way it has been produced in the game but a modified version for street or race use should not be out of the question!
