If There Were A Dodge Magnum Hellcat…
This Dodge Magnum Hellcat Is The Stuff Of Dreams…!
Updated September 27, 2018
You might need to search for a different wagon, as appealing as this Dodge Magnum Hellcat is, it exists only in the mind of one very creative and somewhat cruel person.
While automakers are cutting station wagons from their fleets left and right, one of our most popular posts on Gear Heads recently was about station wagons. People love station wagons. They just don’t buy them.
Dodge Magnum SRT-8
Take the 2005 – 2008 Dodge Magnum, which, on paper, was all the wagon anyone could ask for: an available 340 hp 5.7 Hemi V-8 and a tuned SRT-8 version with a 425 hp 6.1 Hemi engine. After the ’08 model year Chrysler dropped the wagon as it wasn’t “earning its keep”.
Ferrari FF “Shooting Brake”
So, what if, the cruel little mind at cars.com thought, Chrysler realized its mistake and decided to bring back the Magnum? The safest answer would be an stretch a Dodge Charger and offer it with the usual based and optional Hemi engines. Blah. What about instead, the SRT guys and gals were allowed to work outside the box and create a 2016 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat that’s perhaps less wagon and more “shooting brake”, like the Ferrari FF?
Friends don’t let friends build their own Challenger Wagons
With full-sized SUVs and crossovers flying out of the dealerships, and plenty of “halo” cars (like all the other Hellcats) to keep brand image high, there’s little doubt that the only list on which a Challenger Hellcat Wagon appears is ours.
