Dongfeng are preparing their own FJ-Cruiser like SUV for the Chinese market. Info on the SUV is thin on the ground with only a render for expectations, however, we have learned that the above SUV (known as the Fengshen)will be slightly smaller than the current Hummer H3, and the chassis will be taken from the current Dongfeng Crazy Soldier. The engine will also be a Dongfeng self designed unit, and is expected to be a yet to be a diesel offering.

Ash came to China at 18 on a whim and never left. Some 10 years later he collected a degree and a family along the way and now focuses his time on watching the Chinese car industry develop. He has witnessed the market change from being minor backyard market in to the world’s biggest and most important market for all car manufacturers. Aerodynamic as a shed, Ugly as a Hummer, less practical than a chocolate teapot (you could after all eat the teapot), and sold to people who will never take it anywhere near anything more taxing than a gravel parking lot.

Theres a fantastic idea! If this was the 1990?s and in the US.

In the modern world its going to sell to idiots, and sadly there are lots of those.

    • Head Honcho says:December 4, 2009 at 9:50 am

I agree Vie. Everyone talked about buying Hummer being such a bad idea unless they morph it into AWD cars pretty much like Subaru. This thing should have been built in the early 90s. Looks just ridiculous coming out now.

  7. Terranismo says:December 5, 2009 at 3:28 am

Its nothing more than a Hummer H3X concept with two extra doors grafted on.
