This Is The All New Ducati Desmosedici GP18 MotoGP Racer
Introducing the Ducati Desmosedici GP18 – Ducati’s MotoGP prototype racer that’s set to take us on a rollercoaster ride throughout the 2018 MotoGP season. Following on from one of Ducati’s most successful GP campaigns in recent years, 2018 promises to be an exciting year for the Bologna-based factory, and they’ve kicked off in style by unveiling their new breed of Desmosedici racers in front of a packed crowd of media, press, and team sponsors. And this year’s Ducati Desmosedici GP18 looks meaner than ever.
The Ducati Desmosedici GP18 Unveiled!
Every year Ducati put on a show unveiling their latest racing prototype, and every year we’re more impressed than the last. 2018 is no different. While we don’t have a crazy hammerhead fairing to argue about, we do have a more interesting paint scheme than we’re used to seeing. Traditionally, Ducati go for a red and white arrangement, but this year sees the addition of a cool grey color, and more blue than you’d usually see on a Ducati Desmosedici. The blue addition is thanks to some bigger sponsorship from the likes of Flex-Box and Shell Advance, but the logic behind the grey is mystery. It looks pretty damn cool though, and we’re guessing that’s reason enough.
In terms of new technology, there’s nothing to report – and that’s standard for MotoGP prototype machines. In fact, this probably isn’t even the Ducati Desmosedici GP18, it’s most likely just last years model wearing updated clothes. We’re expecting to see a new aerodynamics package appear after preseason testing, and hopefully a few other surprises too. With Andrea Dovizioso and Jorge Lorenzo at the controls, 2018 could very well be Ducati’s year, and after such a strong performance from Dovi in 2017, it would be fantastic to see a Ducati rider take the championship.
It’s still a long time until then however, so enjoy the gallery of these ferocious beasts in the meantime. If you want more information, take a look at the full video of the Ducati Desmocedici GP18 unveiling below too.
