RUF CTR3 Evolution – Porsche’s Fast Cousin
Updated March 11, 2015
The world famous Porsche tuner RUF really gained international notoriety when they delivered us the iconic “Yellowbird” based off of the 911. The car’s heart was a turbocharged horizontal 6 cylinder that produced a whopping 469hp and a sub 4 second 0-60 in the late 80’s! These stats were simply mesmerizing by the day especially to come from a H6 powerplant.
Well today RUF is still going strong and still testing their work on the autobahn at 2am in order to see just how fast their customer’s cars run. The technology is still as impressive and so are the technical specs.
The evolutionary RUF CTR3 is a vehicle that still manages to end up on posters on walls of young enthusiasts and car bloggers like myself that will eventually own one whenever our Enron stock and Iraqi Dinar investment finally takes off. (Still haven’t heard back from Bernie Madoff about my stocks yet)
Well this RUF CTR3 Clubsport is packing some major heat as they have continued to fine tune the twin-turbo H6 that now delivers 777hp and 723 lb ft connected to a 7-speed dual clutch gearbox. Though the CTR3 has now been around since 2007, the tuners have managed to continually improve upon the powertrain and the overall cars specs thanks to some kevlar-carbon composite tidbits.
Now the RUF CTR 3 Clubsport is running anywhere from 3.0 to 3.2 sec from 0-62mph during testing. The company claims a top speed of a staggering 236mph if geared for it although it looks to fall short against the Hennessy Venom F5.
Uriah’s useless thoughts: This car has a big ol’ ass and I love a big ass. Just like the CTR3 and a jealous big bottom girl, they will take your abusive driving nature for only so long before they lose control and throw your flaming corpse in a ditch. 🙂
