Famous Lancia Stratos Alitalia Livery On The Maddest Lamborghini Aventador SV

Custom Aventador SV Gets Iconic Livery

Published September 13, 2017

So, here’s something we never thought we’d see: a Lamborghini Aventador SV with a freaking Lancia Alitalia livery. Perhaps the only thing more insanely cool than the livery is the rally light cluster on the nose. After all, it copied one of the most successful rally car livery designs in history – it’d better have at least a couple of extra lights. This Lambo manages to pull off the Alitalia look quite well and in fact, looks just as mean as the car that propagated it.

As far as race car liveries go, we definitely cannot forget some of the most alluring to ever find their place on cars.

We’re talking about some serious icons here: the McLaren-Mercedes Formula 1 Marlboro livery, the Porsche Martini livery, the Ford GT Gulf livery and, of course, this Alitalia livery. While it does promote an Italian airline, we actually traced the Alitalia logo and the livery on the Stratos all the way to a San Francisco-based agency headed by renowned German designer Walter Landor. Landor and his team have been creating liveries and logos for decades. FedEx, Levi’s, Del Monte, Frito-Lay – the logos of all these famous companies came from Landor’s mind.

You see, Landor actually had to create a whole visual identity for the Alitalia company. The reason this was such a difficult task is that the livery had to be both recognizable and scalable, so it could fit on different types of planes. Thanks to such modularity of the whole visual identity, the Lancia Stratos with its sharp and beautiful design featured a perfect shape for the logo to be further developed.

And that’s how we got the awesome Lancia Stratos Alitalia.

Lamborghini Aventador SV With Character To Match

Now, however, the Aventador SV wears the livery with great pride. Absolute Motors from the Netherlands handled the transformation quite successfully. No, this is not a photoshop job. The Dutch really transformed the Lamborghini Aventador SV with the Alitalia livery. Now, an already mad car has the external character to match. Let’s not forget, this is a car that can lap the Nürburgring in less than 7 minutes and does 0-100 mph in a mere 5.7 seconds. Then again, it’s not like we need a livery to remind us that the Aventador SV is absolutely insane – I think the tailpipes already do a pretty good job of that.

About Safet Satara

I do not have spare time. All there is is car time. 12 years and counting. I am a Central European gearhead, but you are probably thinking - aaa a disposable Borg drone! Well, actually, I like to dress up like James Bond too. The only thing I need to be him is an Aston Martin (and I love DBS more than DB5 because, reasons). That's something I guess.
