Ford F-350 by Hellwig Products “The Operator” is An All-Purpose Adventure Rig
There’s no obstacle it can’t overcome
SEMA 2017 might have ended, but the show was stuffed with so many impressive vehicles that we could keep covering it until next year. Take this special purpose Ford F-350, for instance. Built in collaboration between Hellwig Products and LGE-CTS Motorsports, the ultimate one-ton rig provides unparalleled capabilities both on and off the road. It can be filed under the recon adventure rig category and its creators have aptly named it “The Operator.”
One glance at “The Operator” is enough to figure out this isn’t your average Super Duty truck. Aside from the pixelated camo paint job Hellwig Products’ rig sports beefed up bumpers in order to accommodate 17-inch Method ND-HV wheels wrapped in 37-inch Falken Wildpeak M/T tires. Then there’s a Rigid Industries light bar atop the cab and PowerStepXL running boards on the sides. Finally, “The Operator” boasts a Warn winch hanging in front of the T-Rex X-Metal grille, while the tailgate sports a Wilco Pre Runner setup.
All of the aforementioned goodies are dwarfed in comparison to the Sherptek-designed bed, which is occupied by an Arctic Cat Wildcat X. The off-roading specialist utility vehicle doesn’t come in an empty bed, however. Apart from the $18,000 Wildcat X, “The Operator” will throw in a Hi-Lift jack, a Krazy Beaver shovel, and Daystar fuel cans.
Needless to say, there’s even more going on underneath. All that extra weight has been channeled by adding in-house Big Wig air springs and an Icon Vehicle Dynamics Stage 5 Suspension Kit which raises the Ford F-350 by 3 inches. This setup is perfect for fine-tuning both the ride quality and the ride support. Power, on the other hand, still comes from the 6.7L Power Stroke diesel that the Blue Oval offers as an option with all of their Super Duty trucks. The only difference is that this particular Hellwig Products’ rig throws in the Magnaflow Pro DPF Performance exhaust. Sadly, this is only a promotional unit, thus Hellwig Products won’t offer you one. A pity indeed since their vision of the Ford F-350 is badass!
