Ford’s Ecoboost Lineup
Say Hello To The 2013 Ford Ecoboost Lineup
Updated September 1, 2018
We look at more power through smaller Ecoboost engines
Ford has come up with a more earth friendly solution to keeping Prius drivers from writing you up with fake tickets in the Whole Foods parking lot. It’s called the Ford Ecoboost engine lineup and it’s supposed to emit fewer pollutants in order to keep mister polar bear from having to eat its babies and sparing you from anymore guilt riddled World Wrestling Federation World Wildlife Fund propaganda commercials. Ford is working to produce an all around efficient lineup of vehicles and by doing so they are shedding weight and producing more efficient engines. And as we take a look at these engines we are seeing that they are efficient, powerful, reliable and less polluting.
2013 Ford Ecoboost Lineup: Engine Design
For the 2013 Ford Ecoboost lineup, the engines that are becoming available we are seeing engineers start off with a small liter aluminum block that is coated in a low friction material. Next the engineers produce cylinders and cylinder heads that run at a higher compression ratio than normal. Then we see the cylinder heads offering fuel direct injection that is controlled in order to release the optimal timing and rate in order to produce the perfect air fuel mixture. With variable valve timing as well as a higher flow intake and exhaust coupled with the turbocharger we see that the Ford engineers have set up 2013 Ecoboost to offer low end torque therefore moving the vehicle more efficiently and giving better acceleration from a standstill. With all these new engine components and technologies running together in harmony we see 15 to 20% better overall fuel efficiency as well as 20% lower emissions due to the more complete burn of fuel. Plus Ford is working on more efficient and higher geared transmissions as well as an initiative to drop 750 pounds from each vehicle in Ford’s lineup.
The Future Ford Ecoboost Lineup
So as a result we will have fun to drive vehicles that are lighter in weight and more fuel-efficient with more horsepower. So therefore I have a hard time disagreeing with the future of Ford vehicles for 2013. Vehicles such as the 2013 Ford Taurus SHO and the new Ford Focus ST will both be prime examples of this technology. We also see the 2013 Ford F150 Ecoboost delivering some the best fuel mileage from a six cylinder that has the power of a small V8. But either way look for more the Ford Ecoboost engines to come along and deliver what the customers are asking for.
