Has the Starwood Full Metal Jacket Jeep Won the Battle for Best Conversion?
The Starwood Full Metal Jacket Jeep Is A Serious Conversion
Updated September 27, 2018
With retail prices starting at just under $110K, the Starwood Full Metal Jacket Jeep is one of the cheaper tricked-out Jeep options on the market. This particular Jeep conversion has a bulletproof suspension and is powered by a 3.6-L V6 Pentastar engine putting out 285 horses. Oh, and this beastly 4×4 with a standard five-speed automatic transmission is pretty spry with the ability to go from 0 to 60 mph in 8.4 seconds.
Whether you’re battling zombies or rush hour traffic, the Starwood Full Metal Jacket Jeep conversion will assuredly get you to your final destination in one piece. It sports Kevlar panels on both the exterior and interior to protect those within from sniper fire, and its gargantuan 40-inch Nitto Mud Grapplers will carry you over just about anything that tries to stand in your way.
Starwood has also equipped the Full Metal Jacket Jeep with Smittybilt bumpers, rock sliders, and fenders to make it virtually indestructible. Proper illumination for scoping out deer or the next watering hole will never be a problem, either, thanks to an array of LED lights above the front bumper and over the windscreen.
The Full Metal Jacket transformation takes about 100 hours (and reportedly 80 lbs of sweat) to achieve, according to Starwood, and it seems that every inch of each Jeep gets attention. Even the flooring is lined in Kevlar, and lucky drivers get indispensable extras like an underseat lock box to stash weaponry discreetly, a Warn 1000-lb winch, and two 1-lb dry chemical fire extinguishers should a need for them arise.
While it’s hard to say that the Starwood Full Metal Jacket Jeep is the best Jeep conversion out there, it’s definitely in the upper echelon. If the Full Metal Jacket’s retail price is a little too steep, Starwood does offer other Jeep conversions in the $35K to $90 K range.
