$349,000 Hennessey VelociRaptor 6×6 Comes to SEMA 2017 to Claim His Rightful Throne

This Is The Ford 6X6 You Need In Your Garage

Updated November 10, 2018

Hennessey VelociRaptor 6×6 isn’t a novelty item. Texas-based performance house first introduced the six-wheeled Ford F-150 Raptor as a 2017 year model. Now their Mercedes-Benz AMG G63 6×6 fighter is making another appearance. This time, VelociRaptor 6×6 is making its debut at the SEMA 2017. Sadly, its exorbitant price tag has soared even further.

$295,000 is a lot of money even for a supercar, let alone a pickup truck. Especially considering Hennessey hadn’t done anything to boost the Raptor’s performance. 3.5L EcoBoost V6 develops the same 450 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque that the regular F-150 Raptor does. But that’s last year’s news. Hennessey Performance decided to offer this year’s model in previously optional 605-horsepower and 622 lb-ft of torque tune. $22,500 package which they liked to call the “600 Twin Turbo” is now standard, but the final price tag is now $349,000 instead of $317,500. Then again, what’s another $31,500 if you’ve already splashed north of $300,000?!

Upgraded twin turbo Hennessey VelociRaptor 6×6 also gets an upgraded air-to-air intercooler, reprogrammed ECU, and a modified free-flowing stainless steel exhaust. But where does the rest of almost $300,000 go? It turns out tampering with the drivetrain is one rather expensive affair. Furthermore, apart from a six-wheel drivetrain, VelociRaptor 6×6 also benefits from an upgraded stock Fox suspension, and it gets three locking rear axles. Finally, there are also huge 20-inch wheels combined with Toyo off-road tires, heavy duty front and rear bumpers, auxiliary LED lights, and a roll bar. And don’t forget that people down at Hennessey Performance have been kind enough to include a donor F-150 Raptor into the final balance.

Although it may come as a surprise, 6×6 VelociRaptor still manages to offer a few optional extras. Most notably the $22,000 Brembo braking system with 6 calipers and rotors.

“The VelociRaptor 6X6 is the ultimate off-road vehicle,” were Founder & CEO of Hennessey Performance, John Hennessey’s words. “Our VelociRaptor 6X6 is pure aggression on wheels – all six of them,” he then added. Not only will their 6×6 version of the Ford Raptor become one of the most expensive American vehicles available, but it’ll also be one of the most exclusive ones. Only 50 Hennessey VelociRaptor 6×6 units are planned to be built.

About Nikola Potrebić

Despite driving a piece of junk, Nikola still manages to survive the harrowing experience called "A road trip in a Yugo," day in, day out. On the other hand, precious few things move him as muscle cars do. Especially those from the bygone golden era, which makes him wonder why wasn't he born a few decades earlier? Well, at least he's been given the opportunity to enjoy the likes of the Pontiak Aztek, Chrysler PT Cruiser, Fiat Multipla, and other lovely millennials, right? Come to think of it, I'll stick with my Yugo. Thank you very much.
