HJC And Star Wars Team Up! Boba Fett And Kylo Ren Helmets!
Check Out These HJC Star Wars Helmets!
Updated August 15, 2018
HJC are back with another interesting gimmick, this time in the form of Star Wars themed helmets. Don’t get us wrong, we do like HJC as a brand, and we even own a couple of HJC helmets too, but we can’t help but think that all of this fandom merchandising might be a step too far. When it comes to helmets, we think it’s better to lure buyers in with safety specs and protective technology, not a Captain America paintjob…but if gets people wearing helmets, it’s all worth it. And honestly, the HJC Boba Fett themed helmet is pretty cool.
With the next installment of the Star Wars franchise, Rogue One, releasing this winter, HJC have once again jumped on the bandwagon with some interesting helmet designs. The three themes available are Kylo Ren, Boba Fett, and a “Death Trooper” design. The company has said that they plan to unveil even more Star Wars themed helmets in the near future, too. These helmets are scheduled to go on sale in early December, and they’re based around HJC’s new RPHA 11 helmet.
New HJC Star Wars Helmets
HJC America’s boss, George Hong has this to say: “We are thrilled to be working with the awe-inspiring brand that Lucasfilm has created. We anticipate great response around the world to the character graphics that we have chosen. In particular, riders and fans of Star Wars will love the RPHA 11 Kylo Ren’s special chrome and flat finish graphic design and the uniquely distressed graphic of the RPHA 11 Boba Fett. They are beyond cool!”
And yes, they are pretty cool – and if the price is right, we think we might invest in a Boba Fett helmet for a laugh. Though, it’s got us thinking that these helmet-selling gimmicks might have gone a touch too far now. It’s all good encouraging people to wear helmets but lets not forget that Jorge Lorenzo recently parted ways with HJC after a number of technical hiccups during races: the lining falling over his eyes and a visor that steamed up super easily. Naturally, Lorenzo changed brands. These problems seldom happen to the other big manufacturers, like AGV or Arai… and they seldom release movie themed helmets. To us, it feels like form has won out over function here…
However, we’re all fans at heart, so if the price is right, we’ll invest in a couple of these HJC Star Wars helmets regardless.
