Honda Preview Their Neo Sports Café Concept (Gallery)
This Is The New Sports Café Concept – A Glimpse Into Honda’s Future
While we were all getting excited for Husqvarna’s Vitpilen machine, Honda were paying attention and taking notes and this is their response: the Neo Sports Café concept. The first teasers for the Neo Sports Café concept came out a little while ago, but we didn’t pay them much mind because there wasn’t anything visual to look at. We got a trailer with a whole lot of nothing in it. Now, thanks to the recent unveiling at the Tokyo Motor Show, we have a much better idea of what Honda are talking about.
The Honda Neo Sports Café Concept
Being a concept, there isn’t a hell of a lot of real information to go on. We do know that it’s going to come powered by a water-cooled, 998cc, inline four engine that’s more commonly found on Honda’s flagship sportsbike, the CBR1000RR. And that’s impressive. No doubt it will be re-tuned for the sake of sensibility, but it’s no less fearsome considering the naked café racer chassis that it’s going to be bolted in to. Aside from the beastly engine, we can see that the Neo Sports Café machine will also boast a single sided swing arm, fully-adjustable suspension, LED lights, and more style than the average Honda rider is used to.
Apart from that, we haven’t really got much else to go on. This retro-modern motorcycle is still in the concept stage, and obviously comes without the real road-going equipment that its production counterpart would be wearing. That being said, Honda will be pulling the covers off of a real life and fully functional Neo Sports Café model at Milan’s EICMA show in the near future. With that in mind, you could probably strike the “concept” part off of the title, because an EICMA unveiling suggests that a consumer-ready production isn’t too far away.
It looks like something that could take the smile off of the Husqvarna Vitpilen’s face. Wouldn’t you agree?
