Hot Hellcat Pursuit Along I-10 East in Houston

25 year-old Steals Dodge Challenger Hellcat and Chased by Police

Published October 19, 2017

When Dodge Challengers first hit the market, I had a slight suspicion that some of the souped of versions (like the SRT Hellcat) may involved in a chase or two – whether its the police driving it or the perp.  These vehicles not only look like they can tear some serious ass into the pavement, but they also have the machinery to tear the said asshole.  In the video below, a man stole one of these Dodge Challenger Hellcats, and have the pavement and police both a good pounding.
Last week, a 25 year-old man by the name of Abu-Shlieba stole a Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat in Jefferson County, Texas and took it for quite the joyride which resulted in a high-speed police pursuit (and even got the attention of the ghetto birds as well).  Shlieba first stole the Hellcat in Houston, Texas.  The news station caught wind of the vehicle theft and sent their helicopter out which obtained this great footage of the car chase.
We’ve got to give it to Shlieba, he sure handles that car well.  As you’ll see, he was weaving in and out of moving traffic quite gracefully at speeds well over 100 mph.  The chase began on the I-10 interstate heading west.  He then went over the overpass and began heading east on the I-10 east.  At first, the police had a good position on the driver and were even in front of the vehicle, but then the driver stepped it up and got far in the lead.  It was said that the driver apparently had a long-barrel rifle in the car with him during the pursuit.  It is unclear if he brought this weapon with him before stealing the vehicle or if the rifle was in the vehicle that he stole.  When the driver realized that he did not have enough gas to make it to his final destination, he abandoned the super car along highway 73 and attempted to flee on foot.  With all of the attention he had managed to capture, he didn’t make it too far without being apprehended by police.
Police stated that Shlieba had existing warrants for multiple felony charges.  Now, he’ll certainly be facing some serious time considering the long list of additional felony charges that he’s now facing.  On the plus side, if he gets out before he’s too old to drive, he could potentially get offered a decent driving/racing job.
