Inkas Sentry APC: Your Essential Zombie Apocalypse Survival Vehicle
Published May 4, 2016
If you’re one of the millions of people who can’t get enough of AMC’s “The Walking Dead” or other on-screen visions of a post-apocalyptic world following a zombie pandemic, you’re bound to have your own idea of what the ultimate vehicle needed to survive the apocalypse would look like. But if the idea of something put together using various scavenged bits added to a family sedan doesn’t fill you with confidence, Inkas’ upgraded Sentry APC certainly should.
If ever a vehicle was designed and engineered to cope with everything the end of the world might throw at it, this is it. Unfortunately for all you fans of the reanimated, the Sentry APC wasn’t actually developed with the zombie apocalypse in mind. In fact, this upgraded version of the Sentry that was first launched in 2015 is a serious vehicle aimed at law-enforcement agencies and military applications, where crowd control and getting personnel around in safety is the order of the day.
The Sentry is built upon a heavy truck platform with high ground clearance, a 6.7-liter 362 horsepower diesel engine, four-wheel drive, and enough armor plating to withstand grenade explosions and high-powered 7.62mm rifle rounds. To ensure all eight passengers are kept out of harm, the Sentry even has a proprietary overlap system to stop bullets from getting through the door seams.
Upgrades for this year include serious crowd-control measures such as a powerful acoustic hailing device for addressing and dealing with unruly crowds. If audible warnings don’t do the job, the Sentry has a backup plan by way of a removable, vehicle-mounted barrier to simply push the crowd out of the way.
Like any good new vehicle, the Sentry also has a list of available options for buyers to choose from, including an escape hatch, 360-degree cameras, a smart ventilation system, and an emergency light package.
The Sentry APC is a vehicle designed for very specific and pretty extreme circumstances. Go on though, admit it. You want one don’t you?
