Jeep Grand Cherokee Hellcat A Reality? God, Let’s Hope So.

It’s unofficially official. The Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk is going to be the newest recipient of the Hellcat powertrain.
Fiat Chrysler Automobiles is staying tight-lipped about it, but sources say it’s being tested right now in 2016 Grand Cherokee mules. The Grand Cherokee platform is being revamped for the 2017 year. An all-new model is the perfect time to introduce the Trackhawk! Supposedly FCA doesn’t want anyone to know the project has been approved already.
When asked for comment on the Trackhawk/Hellcat project known as ‘Project K’, FCA spokespeople say, “We don’t comment on future products.’
Sources say the powertrain will still be the supercharged 6.2 liter HEMI V8 with around the same horsepower as the other Hellcat models: 707 blistering, heart-palpitating ponies. All Grand Cherokee Trackhawks will be equipped with all wheel drive, and that means all that power will be planted firmly on the pavement.
The Trackhawk is expected to be a sub-3 second SUV capable of a top speed of around 200 miles per hour. That’ll get the kids to soccer practice in a hurry…
Think that’s overkill? The SRT8 Grand Cherokee for the 2017 model year will also get a spry engine. The 6.4 liter HEMI V8 will produce 494 horsepower. That’s perfect for a grocery getter, isn’t it?
