$2 mill Koenigsegg Regera Sells Out in Record Time
The Regara is the most powerful Koenigsegg of all time
Published June 26, 2017
Despite each of the $2 million dollar price tags, Koenigsegg successfully sold each Regera hypercar. The 80-car run, the largest production model run in Koenigsegg history, will start rolling out to the streets next year and every one of them has a buyer. Amazing however you cut it.
The Regera is a new high watermark for Koenigsegg Automotive” says company founder and CEO, Christian von Koenigsegg. “It has been our greatest technical challenge and as such, it is also our greatest technical triumph. That our customers and dealers have seen and appreciated the work we’ve done on the Regera is a source of great pride for everyone at Koenigsegg.”
Koenigsegg Regera as the most advanced Swedish car ever
Obviously, the Regera is the most technologically advanced car Christian von Koenigsegg and his team ever envisioned. Apart from being the most powerful Koenigsegg ever, it is also the first one to utilize advanced hybrid systems consisting of three (yes, three) e-motors, and a V8. One e-motor is strapped directly to the crankshaft with two others powering the rear axles. Quite a neat arrangement. This arrangement, in fact, made possible for Koenigsegg engineers to develop a car without a classic transmission. It does not have one. Instead, e-motors propel the car up to a certain speed, while the crankshaft is basically directly linked with rear axles.
Now, so much power provides quite an astonishing performance. We doubt it will ever do 0-62 mph like the Chiron can. However, the fact that it will reach 248mph in just 20 seconds is enough to amaze. That is seriously quick. Furthermore, thanks to super light batteries (150 lbs with the coolant) and lack of the transmission, it provides an amazing power-to-weight ratio of 10 horsepower per 1 kilogram of mass.
All in all, you are late to the party as every one of 80 units available has sold.
