Kuhl Racing’s Engraved Gold Nissan GT-R at SEMA

At SEMA, you can expect to see some of the world’s most modified and customized cars, boasting hundreds of hours of manpower and spectacular attention to detail. However, even by these standards, this mind-blowingly elaborate engraved gold Nissan GT-R, created by Japanese tuner Kuhl Racing, stands out.

It’s the spiritual successor to the chrome-finish engraved GT-R created by Kuhl in 2015. This gold edition, first showcased at the Tokyo Auto Salon earlier this year, boasts an incredible level of craftsmanship, with intricate detailing overlaid by a custom gold paint finish.

The car starts out with a Kuhl wide-boy body kit, which allows for those huge deep-dish alloys to be fitted. Then, the panels are handed over to a team of craftsmen, who hand-engrave the patterns into the bodywork using pinstriping and dremel grinders. The end-result is incredible!

Of course, the beauty isn’t just skin deep. Kuhl have swapped out the turbochargers to boost power from the 3.8L V6 to 820hp, and added their own incredibly intricate custom exhaust system with titanium mufflers that you can see in the images – it could be considered a work of art in its own right!

And the price tag? This engraved gold ‘Godzilla’ sold for no less than a reported $1 million. So what do you think? Work of art, or over-the-top? Either way, you can’t fault the skills involved in producing such a creation.

About Chris Riley

I have been wrecking cars for as long as I've been driving them, but I keep coming back for more. Two wheels or four, I'm all in. I founded GearHeads.org and then built and ran AutoWise.com until selling it to Lola Digital Media in 2020. I look forward to watching AutoWise grow as part of the AllGear group.
