Lamborghini Aventador SV Is A Raging Bull On Drugs
Published March 4, 2015
SV always was one of the most important arrangement of letters in the world of Lamborghini. It means Superveloce and behind that name the most amazing, most brutal and most astonishing Lamborghinis are born and the last one is currently being exhibited at this years Geneva motor Show named the Lamborghini Aventador SV. Yes, it is a hunkered down Aventador on some sort of heavy drugs and it is as mind bending as it looks.
The changes on it are not as extensive as you would think, but a lot of little changes really made a whole new type of a car which will be rather important in the world of such monstrous machines that are being unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show this year. Interestingly, this most powerful Lamborghini – the Aventador SV isn’t even among the most powerful cars out there, but it has a lot of technological features that really work for it. However, let’s start from the beginning.
The new car is named the Lamborghini Aventador SV 750-4. The name revealed to us that the engine is powered up by 50 HP and that the four wheel drive remained as a centerpiece. But, what changes did that SV badge bring? Apart from getting a special color and bigger wheels, the Lamborghini Aventador SV went through a some kind of a diet. It lost 110 lbs due to use of carbon fiber elements in the interior and on the exterior. You think that 110 lbs isn’t much knowing that some manufacturers succeeded in bringing down the weight of their cars considerably lower (remember than McLaren 675 LT which is even smaller and lighter car than Aventador). However, if you know that the engine power went up by 50 HP and the weight dropped a bit, than the recipe for the exquisite car is met and we are positive that this Aventador SV is much more valuable than the “normal” version.
Actually, with the more powerful engine, less weight 20 inch wheels at the front and 21 inch wheels at the back shod in Pirelli P Zero Corsa Tires, the Lamborghini Aventador SV is faster to 62 mph by 0,1 second in comparison with the well known entry version. That said, the Aventador SV is able to accelerate to the magical number in 2,8 seconds (possibly even less when the right conditions are met) and it is able to travel up to 211 mph (exactly the same as the normal Aventador). So, is it worth it to pay a much bigger price for this one instead buying just that usual Lamborghini Aventador?
Yes, it is and mainly because the Aventador SV received a whole new body kit that, believe it or not, has the capacity to turn this monster into an even more insane creature which isn’t afraid of any track you throw at it. That was the real mission – to create a car that could be driven to work and then thrashed at the track. All new body kit includes new front bumper, new side skirts, rear diffuser and new rear bumper. The changes are obvious and anyone who sees this car will immediately know what is this all about. However, the improved aerodynamic values Lamborghini threw at us are simply mind boggling. They said “overall aerodynamics have been optimized by 150% in term of efficiency and gained a considerably higher downforce of 170% over the standard Aventador”.
That doesn’t mean a lot to anyone who doesn’t study aerodynamics and is absolutely familiar with the Aventador. However, we have to read between the lines and conclude that this vehicle will be a real track weapon that is able to take on any corner at any track in the world. With that massive Pirellis, four wheel drive, enormous engine and a body kit as powerful as that on the batmobile, the Aventador SV just erased the line between road and track car even more. However, Lamborghini bank accounts won’t be erased. In Europe Aventador SV costs 366.000 US dollars, and we have no doubt that the similar price will be formed here, in the US, too.
