The Lamborghini Shooting Brake Concept Looks Like an Actual Speeding Bullet

Igor Shitikov’s Shooting Brake Concept for Lamborghini

Lamborghini Shooting Brake Model

Lamborghini has finally shown a little bit of interest in veering from their typical sports car designs and will possibly attempt to create different models in the near future to capture other customer types. The super car creator announced development of the Urus model (their first SUV), which we’re very excited to see in the near-future. From the initial feedback, consumers are expressing quite a bit of interest in these new models that offer some function and utility other than speed. The company has never made much of a real attempt to stray away from their classic sport car designs. One of the most interesting models that has been proposed comes from the Russian designer, Igor Shitikov, who has developed a shooting brake concept for Lamborghini.

For those of you that aren’t aware of exactly what “shooting brakes” are, the term originates as a chassis that was used to break in horses. Around the 19th century, the British developed shooting brakes to carry hunting parties and their weapons/game. The shooting brake was very popular around World War 2. The shooting break can almost be described as the old-time SUV and is probably what ultimately inspired the creation of the station wagon. These days, the shooting brake style often refers to a 2-door wagon style of ride.

With these shooting brake descriptions in mind, Lamborghini and shooting brake may seem like an oxymoron, but most would be amazed to know about the huge following that station wagons and shooting brakes still have these days (and as they say, “What’s old will be new again some day”) Sometimes, the point of developing a concept car is to merge two opposites such as the Lamborghini brand and a wagon-like design. Concepts, after all, are often created to help consumers think of the possibilities and encourage feedback.

However, this isn’t the first time that somebody has blended these vast differences in vehicle designs. In fact, there are many shooting brake models that have been developed by other brands such as the BMW M Coupe (and some consider the Z3 Coupe as a shooting brake also) and the Jaguar XF Sportbrake, the Aston Martin Vanquish Zagato Shooting Brake, and the Ferrari FF (which is probably the real reason that this concept was brought to life for Lamborghini). There have also been many concept shooting brakes created for different brands such as the Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class Shooting Brake concept, the Fisker Surf Concept, Audi’s Shooting Brake Concept (at the 2005 Tokyo Auto Show), and several others.

The Lamborghini Shooting Brake that Shitikov looks like the perfect blend between the Sesto Elemento, the Aventador, and many renderings of the Urus. The designer has not mentioned any of the mechandical aspects of the vehicle, but those that wish to see this concept brought to life say that nothing would be more fitting than an Aventador V12. While we don’t see this the Lambo Shooting Brake as a likely candidate for a production model right now, it could very well happen in the near-future. The style is becoming more and more popular and is attracting a growing number of followers. The style also makes a lot of sense for EV companies and manufacturers that looks to increase utility in an energy-efficient manner.
