Manhart MHX6 Dirt² Is An off-road prepped 887hp BMW X6 You Will Love

I did not expect an off-road ready X6, let alone a 887hp off-road ready X6

I am sure you never thought about the BMW X6 as a competitive off-road machine. I mean, it is an SUV, it has a massively powerful engine, an all-wheel-drive system, and fine clearance. But it also has massive wheels with low profile tires, driving systems usually associated with low sports cars and a coupe-shaped roof. It is most certainly a car for city streets and highways. Not for Moab trail. Unless it is the Manhart MHX6.

Manhart, German tuner, had some serious off-road aspirations with the X6. They developed a fantastic car called the MHX6 Dirt² – an off-road ready BMW X6. I am not joking. It is yellow and black and cool and totally unnecessary.

I like it. I admit.

No other X6 Like This Manhart MHX6 Anywhere

Comparing the car to anything any other car maker made is unnecessary. In fact, it is not possible as we do not actually see the off-road-worthy X6 cars that much. The Manhart did it all – from an engine tune-up, suspension improvements to the addition of classic off-road worthy gear on the outside. This X6 has got it all.

Interestingly enough, the engine tune-up is of an extreme kind. Changing almost all engine internals – including the connecting rods and pistons, Manhart managed to transform the machine from a powerful hauler to an insanely powerful monster. Integrating new turbochargers with all the other gear, Mahart successfully upped the power to 887hp and 885 lb-ft of torque. Heck, the car is as powerful as hypercars – as the Porsche 918 Spyder. Interestingly enough, the sheer speed is beside the point here. After getting that much power from the engine, Germans tuned up the transmission making it possible for the X6 to handle all the insanity hidden under the bonnet. Definitely designed for conquering the dunes, the car comes equipped with a new cooling system, reinforced axles, and special underbody protection. It is not that easy to handle the heat.

Formidable off-road gear

As for the suspension, the X6 had to gain a totally new set of additions. Including a set of KW springs, 305×40 BF Goodrich All Terrain tires, new limited-slip diff system, and awesome guards – front and back. Obviously, the car has been lifted due to new springs and dampers.

Exterior modifications are actually what makes the car so thrilling looking and so interesting. BF Goodrich All Terrain tires go hand-to-hand with the added protection on the fenders, that awesome roll-cage and exceptionally positioned spare tire. If I didn’t know better, I would think that Manhart MHX6 Dirt² was prepped for the Dakar Rally. It seems only fitting to tackle it. Although, it would need a slightly more comprehensive suspension work for sure.

Other important pieces include a snorkel, roof rack, light bar, and darkened lights.

Mannhart limited the production to only 5 units with each one costing $465,005. That is almost half a mil for an X6.

Is it worth it?

I would not know without a proper test drive.

About Safet Satara

I do not have spare time. All there is is car time. 12 years and counting. I am a Central European gearhead, but you are probably thinking - aaa a disposable Borg drone! Well, actually, I like to dress up like James Bond too. The only thing I need to be him is an Aston Martin (and I love DBS more than DB5 because, reasons). That's something I guess.
