Matt Damon & Liam Neeson To Star In New Isle Of Man TT Movie!

Updated November 16, 2016

Want to see an Isle of Man TT movie starring Matt Damon and Liam Neeson? Well, if you do, you won’t have to wait too long. Unlike some of the more recent TT-focused cinema favorites out there, such as TT3D: Closer To The Edge, or A Dangerous Addiction, or even the forthcoming Joey Dunlop biopic, this new movie will be completely fictional. Early reports are suggesting that the main gist of plot focuses around an ageing American racer, who has been tempted out of retirement for make or break attempt at the Isle of Man TT course.

Note: Despite a certain website claiming Honda as a source for this news story, and many other publications running with it – it has turned out to be false. Neither Liam Neeson nor Matt Damon have signed on to this project. Whether or not they’re even on the cards for the role is up for debate, but director Ben Younger has contacted numerous publications explaining that neither actor is on board, and we should make a note of telling people, in case it damages the future of the film. So, you’ve been told! However, an Isle of Man TT film is on the way, so feel free to read on. Just ignore the Matt Damon and Liam Neeson references!

It might seem like a stale plot on the surface, but this project is being directed by Ben Younger, the acclaimed director of Boiler Room and Bleed For This, who can also add a great deal of authenticity to the story because he’s also a motorcycle race enthusiast too. Matt Damon and Liam Neeson have also been confirmed for the project, along with TT race veteran Cameron Donald. According to an unnamed source at Honda who spoke to morebikes.co.uk, Donald will be working as Matt Damon’s biker body double, aboard a brand new Honda CBR1000RR.

The unnamed source was quoted saying: “Cam [Cameron Donald] is going to do the riding for Matt who plays a racer who comes to the TT later on in his career. We’ve already been working as advisers to the technical aspects of the film. It’s all very exciting and there seems to be a big budget involved. It’s one of those movies with lots of people attached. I’ve met with the writer and director Ben Younger and he has a clear idea of how it’s going to happen. There’s a lot of film people who will be at the TT making this film next year.”

Ben Younger will be working with Bold Films to make this production possible. Bold Films have described the project as “a muscular action film wrapped around a great character journey.” Director Younger explained: “The TT is the last, great, dangerous race on earth and I am excited by the idea of bringing this new world to a general audience. 262 racers have lost their lives on this Island. I want to do their stories justice.”

The full cast and the rest of the details are yet to be announced, however, we do know that filming is almost definitely going to be taking place during next year’s TT races. It doesn’t matter if you’re a film buff or not, but having a motorcycle racing movie feature as part of the mainstream cinema is definitely a positive thing. We will be monitoring this story with anticipation. We can’t wait to see it!
