Mopar ’16 Ram Rebel: The Rebel Gets a Mopar Makeover

Published June 23, 2016

The Ram Rebel was initially introduced last year at the Detroit Auto Show as an offering in the lineup for the Ram 1500. While most people hoped it would be a Ford Raptor fighter, it was just another trim level and appearance package. However, the unique styling of the Rebel set it apart from the rest of the group. This made it a viable option for those who wanted the look of a heavy offroader with the comfort of a daily driver. Now, the Mopar Custom Shop is taking the Rebel a step further with its limited edition Mopar ’16 Ram Rebel.

While the Mopar Custom Shop isn’t new to creating limited edition Mopars, this will be the first time they have created a modified vehicle for the truck market. It follows a line of Challengers, Chargers, Darts and even a Chrysler 300. The Mopar Custom Shop maintains the feel of the normal Ram Rebel while taking offroad looks and optional light performance mods a little further. In essense, a Mopar modified limited edition vehicle is their way of showing the general population the extras that can be added to your car or truck to make it stand out.

As with previous limited-edition Mopar vehicles, the Mopar ’16

Based off the Ram 1500 Rebel Crew Cab, the biggest difference on the outside is the choice of only two colors; Flame Red/Brilliant Black two-tone or Brilliant Black monotone. The bulk of the upgrades continue by enhancing the rugged appearance including 17” satin black wheels, off-road wheel flares, and a black front bumper skid plate. Other exterior trim additions include a Mopar blue and black graphic stripe along the sides and tailgate and a dual bezel sport performance hood with matte black hood graphic. Last, but not least, the interior gets a serialized glove box badge and stainless steel door sill guards.

Knowing not all customers want just another appearance package, the Mopar Custom Shop has a couple options for light performance upgrades including a cold air intake and cat-back exhaust. Unfortunately, this is just a continuation of a vehicle which was already a glorified appearance package. That’s fine for most people, but if you are looking for something with more capability there are other options on the market for the $52,460 price tag this truck has. However if  you love Ram, want to look cool in front of your friends, and the most adventure you will have is trekking down to the next Cars and Coffee, the Mopar ’16 Ram Rebel may be just the truck you need.
