The USA Will Be Getting The 2017 MV Agusta Brutale 800!

MV Agusta USA Will Be Bringing The Brutale 800 Stateside For 2017!

Updated August 20, 2018

If you’re in the market for an exotic mid-sized street bike for 2017, then spare a thought for the MV Agusta Brutale 800: it’s sexy, powerful, affordable, and coming soon to US shores. Now, we’re well aware that the vast majority of our audience would prefer this story to be about the F4 – and by god it could do with a significant update – but let’s not discount the Brutale. It’s got the grunt, it’s got the lineage, and the 2017 price tag is very respectable for an MV Agusta. If you want a bike from the luxury bike manufacturer’s stable, then this is probably your best choice for the time being.

We’ve seen this model before, but it hasn’t yet been available to the US market. However, since it’s been tarted up to satisfy even more European rules and regulations, had a few cosmetic updates, and a few niche upgrades, it’s now been considered ready for American consumption. If you want a flashy triple, then look no further.

The 2017 MV Agusta Brutale: Revisions and Upgrades

Powered by the fierce Brutale In-line 3-cylinder engine (with the counter-rotating crankshaft) the Brutale promises to be “more effective on the road,” and “deliver more efficient performance.” With a power output set at a respectable 110 hp at 11,500 rpm and with the max torque increased by 25% to 83 Nm at 7,600 rpm, it’s definitely going to have enough to keep you satisfied. To complement the engine revisions, MV Agusta have also fitted the new Brutale 800 with clutchless gears shifting in both up and down directions, a hydraulic slipper clutch, a multi map ride by wire throttle system, and 8 levels of traction control.

But it wasn’t just the engine and electronics that got a revision. In fact, the whole chassis received a major overhaul. The wheelbase was extended by 0.8 inches, the trail was increased from 3.74 inches to 4.07, and the suspension system was upgraded accordingly, with front wearing newer Marzocchi forks, and the rear using a new Sachs shock. Brembo brakes complete the rolling chassis goods, along with a Bosch ABS 9 Plus system, and Pirelli Diablo Rosso III rubbers.

The bodywork was also revised, and the Brutale has a new shape for the gas tank, with sleeker lines running along the bike, extending from the front cowl to the tail piece. The footpegs have been given a second look, along with many of the mounts and fixtures too. The exhaust was also given some tweaking to accommodate Euro4 laws – meaning it’s bigger – but it still comes with the signature MV Agusta three pipe arrangement.

If you’re tempted by the package, you can choose your new 2017 MV Agusta Brutale 800 in three distinct color schemes: Black Matte Metallic, Pearl Ice White, and good old fashioned Red. And the price? Well, you’re looking at a very reasonable MSRP of $13,498.

The price is still relatively expensive, but it’s not bad for an MV Agusta. However, if the price isn’t a problem but you have other concerns, you’ll be pleased to know that MV Agusta’s American interests are now being managed by the Australian Urban Moto Group. Hopefully, the Urban Moto Group will be able to streamline a lot of MV Agusta’s dealership and parts supply issues which have plagued the company over the last decade. With new leadership in the USA, and MV Agusta’s fresh injection of cash from the Anglo-Russian Black Ocean investment firm, things are certainly looking up.

If there was a time to buy MV Agusta, perhaps now is the best time? The Brutale is pretty affordable, and the company as a whole are finally getting their sh*t together. Once they’re back on track proper, the prices may increase accordingly…so this might be a great time to pull the trigger on one. Or, if you can wait a little longer, the USA will also be welcoming the 2017 MV Agusta Brutale 800 RR later on this year too.
