New 2017 Porsche 911 GTS – Possibly The Best 911
Updated October 15, 2018
Overperforming and overachieving Porsche 911 991.2 just got five more new versions for us to lust over. Meet the 2017 Porsche 911 GTS, a car so capable, one could forget about any other. Porsche did not reveal it at the Detroit Motor Show. They aren’t there at all. Yet, new cars include rwd versions of the coupe and the Convertible as well as awd variants of the coupe, Cabriolet, and Targa. With new cars, Porsche increased the number of different variants to quite remarkable 21 different 911s.
Compared to the last GTS cars, the new one has a significant number of upgrades and updates. First of all, back at the hot bit sits new three-liter Biturbo engine instead of naturally aspirated unit. 444hp and 405 lb-ft of torque give it more grunt and more speed. The quickest one comes in shape of a Coupe Carrera 4 with the PDK. It will slash through 60 mph in 3.4 seconds. On the other hand, Carrera GTS with a seven-speed manual can achieve 193 mph. That’s fastest a modern GTS will ever go.
Sharper than ever, 911 GTS gets a standard Sport Chrono Package, Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) and Special sports seats with GTS logos. New tech lowers the car by 0.39 inches and sharps up the springs and the steering. With an advanced Track Precision App added to the mix, the driver will enjoy the best possible experience Porsche could give.
Visually differentiating the GTS from the Carrera S Porsche crafted large rear spoiler, painted air intakes black and added twin exhaust tips at the back. Furthermore, one could recognize the GTS thanks to smoked headlights and cool 20-inch black alloys.
The most important addition to the GTS range this year is the introduction of the Targa GTS model. It was nonexistent before. This one, equipped with the all-wheel drive only may be the most appealing, but the priciest as well ($138,200).
