The secret has been revealed, it seems FAW-VW will be updating the current Magotan (ala B6 Passat) to the new Magotan (ala B7) whilst Shangahi-VW will be building the NMS (New Midsize Sedan) that was developed specifically for the Chinese and American markets in Shanghai. Confused? We were, for quite a while.

The B7 Magotan will get some minor changes to the interior but the big changes will be on the outside which will move to take the Magotan into the current corporate grill style. Down in Shanghai, the NMS will be known as the New Passat and will take the old B5 Passat out of production once and for all.

On the power front the NMS will be pouting the same TSI range as other VAG vehicles, so 1.4TSI, 1.8TSI and a 2.0TSI. Look out for this at the Shanghai Auto Show in April.
