Walmart experience can be excruciatingly painful and/or boring, but sometimes they treat us with something extraordinary. One such out of the ordinary treatment comes from Asheville, North Carolina Walmart parking lot where a woman rammed into purse-snatching thief and practically ran him over with her SUV.
Five months pregnant Christine Braswell, came out of Walmart and saw a man – later identified as Robert Raines – rummaging through a purse she left in her SUV. Blake Bennett, a witness later told WLOS: “When I walked out of Walmart, he had her purse and was pulling all of her stuff out.” He and his friend confronted the culprit when Braswell arrived at the scene.
At first she tried chasing him on foot, but being five months pregnant, instead decided to utilize the advantage her SUV provided. “He was with my purse and he took off and I took off after him,” Braswell later recalled. “Me being five months pregnant, I chased a little ways then came back, jumped in the car, threw it in gear and came across the curb and ran him over. I was not going to let him get away with it. It’s not right, it’s not fair.”
Now, both Braswell and Raines are facing charges. Former being charged for misdemeanor assault with a deadly weapon and latter for felony breaking and entering, larceny, and misdemeanor damage to property. Luckily, Raines only sustained minor injuries so larger scale incident was avoided. Next time you’re robbing someone’s car, make sure no one’s there to see you. Especially not the car’s owner.
