Rare McLaren P1 Mangled During Transport
Truck Accident Injures 5 and Tears into Supercar
Seeing exotic supercars get trashed is never easy, but at least this one wasn’t demolished at the hands of an unprepared driver or boozed up celebrity. Instead, this rare McLaren P1, which happened to be one out of only 375 hand-produced, met its match riding in a trailer on the narrow roads of Cambodia. Two trucks both carrying full loads managed to collide, resulting in extensive damage to both rigs. While these particular McLaren Unlimited Series models start out at around $1 Million (without the fancy upgrades), there were also 5 people injured during the wreck. Local authorities say no deaths were reported.
We do not know who the owner is, where the P1 was coming from, or where it was going. We only know the other big rig involved in the crash was transporting goods from Cambodia’s capital city of Phnom Penh to Andoung Tuek. The pictures from the scene show the sides of the trailer ripped apart exposing what was left of the million-dollar prize inside. The damage appears to mostly be concentrated around the front left fender, but we can assume the other side got a scratch or two considering the wreckage overall.
Thankfully McLaren is pretty good at rebuilding after these unfortunate events, and likely has their hands on it already. A McLaren P1 can get upwards of 240+ MPH, yet it was wrecked without even being turned on. The question is, who’s picking up the tab?
