Robbie Maddison Sets Three New Records On His “Water Bike” (Video)
How To Ride A Dirt Bike On Water!
Updated August 21, 2018
First things first, if you’re not familiar with Robbie Maddison, here are the details: he’s an Australian stunt rider who blew us all away back in 2015 after he managed to ride a modified dirt bike (the Water Bike) on a wave in Tahiti. If you haven’t seen it, do check it out. If that wasn’t enough, he performed all of James Bond’s stunt riding in the movie Skyfall, too. He’s got hundreds of other insane feats attached to his name – including the furthest distance ever jumped on a motorcycle – but right now, he’s only concerned about one thing at the moment: riding his dirt bike on water.
Dubbed the “Water Bike” his modified dirt bike is capable of smashing through the waves and despite its outlandish appearance, it actually works. We’ve seen it in action before, when he famously rode a wave in Tahiti, but now, and thanks to a bit of marketing money from Samsung, he’s just added three more records to his name, all aboard the Water Bike.
Riding A Dirt Bike On Water And Breaking Records!
Take a look at the video below if you want to see a guy ride a dirt bike on water! Do what you will with the not so subtle product placement of the Samsung S3 smart watch – it’s pretty cool, if you’re into smart technology – but more importantly, watch him break these three records.
Just a quick recap, Robbie Maddison managed to achieve the longest ever motorcycle ride on water, clocking up 19.8 miles. Next, he achieved the fastest ever speed for a Water Bike, with a top speed of 58 mph. Lastly, he managed to break the record for the longest jump from land to water, measuring in at 61 feet.
Now you’ve seen it done, what are you waiting for? Stick some water skis on that old dirt bike you’ve got laying around, fit it with paddle-sized knobbly tires, and go and smash some records. Though, riding a dirt bike on water probably isn’t as easy as it looks…
