Kawasaki Launch The 200-HP Supercharged Ninja H2 SX Sports Tourer
The 2018 Kawasaki Ninja H2 SX Is Team Green’s Third Supercharged Beast
Updated August 24, 2018
Kawasaki have just pulled the covers of their latest supercharged machine: the 2018 Kawasaki Ninja H2 SX. It’s a sports tourer that redefines the “sports” part of its name by offering owners a fairly frightening 200hp supercharged touring experience. Amazing fun for the rider for sure, but imagine being the passenger!?
The Third Child: Kawasaki Ninja H2 SX
Boasting a second generation balanced supercharged engine that promises to bring the excitement and characteristic power delivery of a 200hp behemoth into the sports tourer class, the Kawasaki Ninja H2 SX has no doubt blasted all of its nearest competition out of the water. It might boast the same technology as the H2, but Kawasaki have retuned the supercharged engine for sensible real world use that favors the low and mid-range.
The Kawasaki Ninja H2 SX is more than just an H2 with saddle bags though. Kawasaki have treated the H2 SX with all of the goods and gadgetry required to make it a viable sports touring machine. While the real details are thin on the ground at the moment, we know that the Ninja H2 SX boasts ABS, traction control, cruise control wheelie control, keyless ignition, semi-active suspension and Kawasaki’s all important “corner management system”. On top of that, the new supercharged machine will come equipped with a six-axis IMU, satellite navigation, a heated saddle and heated grips, and full media synchronicity via the TFT dash and instrumentation.
The Ninja H2 SX also comes with an increased fairing size to help keep the rider and passenger protected from air, and to assist with low speed handling. And of course, the rider’s sitting position has been revised for a more practical and comfortable “upright” position for long trips…
Supercharge Your Journey With The Kawasaki H2 SX
Is it a realistic sports tourer? Well, so far our answer would be “yes.” Thanks to a new trellis frame that has been worked for accommodating a passenger and luggage, and a longer wheelbase that allows riders to use the full power of the supercharged engine with stability and confidence at high speeds, it seems like Kawasaki have done all that they needed to do to tame the beast without clipping its wings too much. Apparently it’s more fuel efficient than the Z1000SX too, which is surprising.
But if you’re really in the market for something more H2 than H2 SX, Kawasaki are also offering a more exclusive version called the H2 SX SE (that’s a lot of letters), which comes with cornering adaptive lights, a bi-directional quickshifter, and launch control. Whew. As for the price and availability? Well, we’ll let you know as soon as we find out. But until then, here’s a quote from the company about the new Kawasaki Ninja H2 SX to whet your appetite:
“Leave everything you thought you knew about sports touring behind with the supercharged Ninja H2 SX. Surge across continents, along autobahns and through mountain passes. Go further, go faster. Ninja H2 SX – Supercharge Your Journey.”
