This Is The Suzuki We Want: The Suzuki Katana 3.0 Concept

Motociclismo Reveal Their Suzuki Katana 3.0 Concept At EICMA

Motociclismo magazine enlisted the help of veteran motorcycle designer Rodolfo Frascoli to bring us the Suzuki Katana 3.0 Concept. It’s not official. It’s not from Suzuki. But boy, it’s incredible, and we want it. This exciting concept has been making waves on social media, and we think that you’ll enjoy it too. Built as a design exercise with the purpose of breathing new life into one of Suzuki’s most famous and iconic models, the Suzuki Katana 3.0 is exactly what Suzuki should be bringing to the table.

The Suzuki Katana 3.0 Concept: Just Awesome

Commissioned by Motociclismo, and designed and built by Rodolfo Frascoli and Engines Engineering, this awesome Katana is living proof that a new generation of Suzuki Katanas need to go into production. While it’s not an official concept from the Hamamatsu factory, Suzuki did host the concept and put it on display within its EICMA display, signaling that it shares some of the company’s ideals. It’s not official, but it might be a hint at something that Suzuki may or may not be already working on. Either way, it looks like Suzuki are paying attention to the growing demand for a retro-themed something from the brand.

We’ve long speculated that Suzuki have got a retro-racer up their sleeve and we were 90% sure that an early GSX-R styled machine that’s typically eighties would be on the cards. However, this non-official Suzuki Katana 3.0 Concept has made us see the value of a modern incarnation of the legendary Katana. With updated looks, a sleeker profile, and modern technology, a modern Katana would be a force to be reckoned with. But is it a realistic dream, or are we just being nostalgic? We think a new Katana is exactly what the doctor ordered, but what do you think?

This particular offering was designed by the same man that penned the Moto Guzzi Griso, the Triumph Street Triple and Tiger and more: Rodolfo Frascoli. Built on top of a boring Suzuki GSX-S1000F base, the all-new Suzuki Katana 3.0 Concept features sharp but swooping curves, refined lines, and a sleek and sporty profile that catapults the old style Katana into the 21st century and beyond. Is this the retro-inspired Suzuki you were waiting for? Or are you still holding out for a modern take on an old school GSX-R?
